Site Settings

Configure and save visual behavior for all pages. Theme changes apply immediately when selected.

Numeric settings accept any finite JavaScript number, including decimals, negatives, and scientific notation. Rendering remains canvas-budgeted so extreme values do not freeze the page.

Starfield Settings

Choose Triton to look around the surrounding field, or Beyond_Distance for the original travel view and light tunnel. The View button is available on every page. Switching keeps your travel, pause, rewind, and saved Triton bearing.

100% keeps normal framing. Lower values widen Triton's view; higher values bring the stars closer. This adjusts the scene camera independently of webpage zoom.

Set 0 for points without motion trails, or change the length without changing travel speed.

Starfield is unavailable while Matrix is enabled.

Control cloud population and transparency separately to keep the stars visible.

Direction & Playback

Use the arrow keys to steer left, right, up, and down. Hold Shift with Up or Down to move forward or backward through the field in depth. Shift + Right Arrow selects diagonal travel. Forward travel expands stars from the central vanishing point into a light tunnel; backward travel contracts the existing field without generating replacement stars. Direction and speed changes are recorded as timed mementos. Rewind replays those mementos backwards at their original speeds and for their original durations.

Select a direction here or use the existing direction dropdown. The active direction stays highlighted.

Settings Presets

All scenes now include more stars. Default starts at 460% density; Randomize suggests 280–950% density, 28–96 bright stars, varied starlight and occasional stardust. Marinda Star Sea and Dense Nebula exceed 10,000% density. Still Sky and Performance Recovery retain calmer motion and light. Your numeric settings have no imposed range. Adjust any setting and save your own complete preset.

Living Universe Variables

View direction and counts update while paused or disabled. Track configured values separately from actual travel, frame timing, and the last saved scene. Download a local JSON report of your settings, live counters, timing, and orb positions.

Requested stars describe your density; allocated stars are the retained surrounding field, and stars in view are the visible subset. The allocation flag shows when rendering uses its resource budget while preserving your saved values. These session counters describe this browser's scene.

Star Types & Light

Change the light without moving the stars. Set twinkle strength or speed to 0 for steady light.

Enabled Star Types

Combine star types, light colors, sizes, closeness, and spawn patterns to create a unique field.

Orb Settings

Used by Release all orbs and newly released orbs. Existing released orbs keep their individual distance until edited in Orb settings.

Stars keep travelling in the selected direction while curving around the orb, creating a layered gravity-lensing effect without entering its space.

Shortcuts: Alt + B spawns an orb, Alt + [ or ] changes the copy count, Alt + O toggles starfield influence, Alt + I toggles orb-to-orb influence, Alt + Up or Down changes influence strength, and Alt + Left or Right changes its radius.

Comet Settings

Core

When released, the element-rich comet joins the canvas starfield and continues with its current position and motion.

Matrix Settings

Higher matrix speed increases rain movement. Higher trail strength keeps glyph trails visible longer.

Enabling Matrix disables Starfield. Turn Matrix off to enable Starfield again.

Notifications

Lower fade time dismisses notifications faster. Higher values keep them visible longer.

Zoom Controls

Use Alt + Z to zoom in, Alt + Shift + Z to zoom out, or Alt + 0 to restore 100%. These site shortcuts avoid the browser's standard zoom keys.

75%

The portfolio also has its own zoom function. The default view is 75% on desktop and mobile. Zoom enlarges the complete webpage, Retract moves the view farther away, and your chosen view is remembered and shared by every page. Reset restores 100%.
